Review

Apa Kata Penonton?

Absolutely lovely movie to enjoy with all the family. Love how it was set in the smurf village with only 1 human, but also had the plots carrying on from previous smurf movies. Loved seeing the antics from both gargamel and his minions. The songs that accompanied the movie were also enjoyable. Would highly recommend.

Having seen the trailer I was expecting the worst and was pleasantly surprised. I mean of course it’s rubbish, but there were quite a few well written moments that I chuckled at (like the introduction of the Smurfs). The sound is well created too, particularly the effects, but the visuals are not quite so consistent. The creatures themselves look like PlayStation 2 characters yet the scenery surrounding them look a lot more vivid and textured (especially the river). The cast is pretty abysmal though, an unrecognizable Julia Roberts being just about the best thing about the emotionless speech. The story is strong enough to keep the audience’s attention and there are more than enough gags to satisfy the under 80s, even if as a parent you might get a little bored. But all in all, it’s a reasonable attempt at making a fun kids’ film with a message.
